Job Overview:

 

Stirling Dynamics is a leading engineering consultancy supporting a wide range of aerospace engineering companies. As a result of the sustained growth of the Stirling Dynamics Aerospace Sector we are now seeking to recruit within the Loads & Aerodynamics group. In this role the candidate will work within a team responsible for all aspects of aircraft loads analysis, including ground, flight and component loads.

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level or higher (preferably Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering) with a proven track record in aircraft loads analysis. The candidate should understand the methods that are employed in both aircraft aerodynamic and structural modelling.  The candidate should also be able to lead a group of engineers, have good interpersonal skills, clear report writing ability and able to respond successfully to demanding customer conditions.  The successful candidate will have knowledge of the relevant certification standards and means of compliance including BCAR, EASA and FAA regulations.

Software tool capability and skills including knowledge of Matlab, FORTRAN and Microsoft Office will be an advantage.

The role is likely to require significant levels of international travel to our partner companies. A good level of aptitude in Indian dialects is desirable.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Planning and delivery of technical aspects of projects to agreed budget, timescale and quality objectives accordance with contract requirements and the defined Business Unit framework and procedures.
  • Support the preparation of project management planning documentation including quality, technical and budget plans.
  • Management of engineering staff to motivate and coordinate to ensure that projects achieve their full objectives.
  • Support the business development activities that align with the Business Unit and Company strategic objectives, identifying business opportunities from strategic customers. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and appropriate internal departments.
  • Interact with internal and external customers on a technical level. Preparation, presentation and approval of technical reports and proposals.
  • Lead transfer of knowledge between customer/team/consultants to maximise the technical capability of the group.
  • Provide a ‘first port of call’ problem solving capability and escalate issues to the Aerospace Engineering Business Unit Manager or Loads & Aerodynamics Capability Manager where a solution cannot be readily found.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in the calculation of aircraft loads covering flight, ground and component loads including model build, verification and validation.
  • Proven ability to handle complex technical problems and provide solutions.
  • Excellent leadership skills with ability to lead team of engineers.
  • Proven interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Business development experience desirable.
  • Experience in approval of technical documentation.
  • An ability to manage multiple tasks, to work independently when required, and the organisation and drive to follow through to a successful outcome.
  • Lead change and an ability to implement new processes.
  • Production of technical reports, scoping of new projects and production of technical proposals.
  • Awareness of certification processes and procedures.
  • Working to EN/AS9100.
