A vacancy has arisen for a Senior or Principal engineer within the Aerospace Systems Business Unit. The focus of the role is toward:
- Avionics & Control (hardware & software from vehicle platform level down to individual component design)
The successful applicant will act as a primary, technical interface with the customer and be responsible for all technical output generated by a team of engineers under their technical direction (Senior Engineer Role). In addition to Avionics & Control, it is beneficial that the applicant can demonstrate an understanding of the following interfacing systems:
- Hydro-mechanical (mechanical mechanisms, hydraulic systems, actuator design etc.)
- Electromechanical (electrical actuation, electrically operated/controlled valves, sensing etc.)
Applicants that can satisfy the above whilst demonstrating a very strong capability in Avionics & Control, combined with the following will be assessed for a position of Principal Engineer:
- A demonstrable ability (aptitude or experience) to develop and nurture an Avionics & Control capability that fulfils the requirements of the Business Unit.
- Team line management experience.
The Aerospace Systems Business Unit is involved in many areas including:
- Rotary & fixed wing
- Military & civil
- Small (1 tonne) through to large (300 tonne+) aircraft
- Multiple systems, including: Landing Gear, Fuel, Hydraulic, Flight Control etc.
As the Aerospace Business Unit is heavily engaged in landing gear systems engineering, experience in the following areas would be advantageous:
- Extension & Retraction Systems
- Wheels, Tyres and Brakes
- Braking and Steering Control Systems
- Monitoring Systems
- Landing Gear Structure
- Research & Technology
The roles will be to lead the progression of a variety of system developments aspects through to completion. These tasks may represent any stage or stages within the life cycle of an aircraft system including:
- Concept development
- Requirement derivation, capture & validation
- System architecture studies
- System design & development
- System integration
- Qualification (test, similarity, analysis etc.)
- Verification
- Certification
- In-service event evaluation
- Root cause analysis
- Modifications
