Developing an automatic submarine platform control system to meet today’s operational requirements is a highly complex undertaking, with large and potentially expensive technical risks being carried through the development project until successful sea trials are conducted. Stirling's advanced autopilots deliver optimised boat performance coupled with control system robustness.  Lessons learned from our military aircraft programs have been applied to the submarine environment to increase performance, reliability and safety.

Our autopilots enable increased operational envelope and increased safety.  They are also designed to minimise operator workload and training requirements.  Our autopilots also have the unique facility to be tuned at sea during sea-trials.

Stirling autopilots are currently installed on:

• U209, U212a, U214 Class Submarines – Used by Indian, South Korean, Portugese, Hellenic and German Navies
• Dolphin AIP Class Submarine – Used by Israeli Navy
• Astute Class Submarine – Used by Royal Navy
