THE ROLE

The ideal candidate will come from a product development background, predominantly working on electronic development. Ideally, the candidate will have experience working on all stages of the product development lifecycle and will have a degree in electrical/electronics engineering. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and support in the development life cycle of electronic equipment for predominantly Aerospace & Defence applications.

The ability to gain UK based security clearance to SC level is essential for this role. The primary focus of the role will be to support the design and development of the company active control products aimed at the aircraft simulator market.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide technical and engineering know-how to deliver projects
  • Provide technical expertise into bid activities
  • Define high level technical requirements for new products
  • Work to process driven design using formal methods
  • Provide technical support to other engineering team members
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
  • Support of hardware/software integration and testing
  • Test and validate prototype and production products

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Masters degree in Electrical / Electronics 2.1 or higher
  • Ideally five years’ + experience working in the Electronics industry
  • Experience in writing technical specifications at system level and board level
  • Experience deriving technical specifications from client requirements
  • Have a broad understanding of electronic disciplines, candidate will be expected to work on all aspects of the product life cycle with new and existing products.
  • Strong knowledge of generic Analogue and Digital circuits and their design principles expected
  • Altium 19, 20 or 21 experience desirable. Candidate expected to be able to generate schematics and lay out PCBs to a high standard at medium product densities.
  • Experience in the design and layout for power systems would be an advantage
  • Experience in high density digital layout would be an advantage
  • Expected to be able to create and manage multiuser component libraries
  • Familiarity with GIT and the Atlassian ecosystem
  • Interface and communications protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, CAN, SPI, etc.)
  • An awareness of standards such as IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610/620
  • Exposure to product certification requirements: CE, EMC, LVD etc
  • Strong practical practitioner, good soldering ability and practical fault finding
  • Experience of circuit protection techniques and design of interface circuits for use in harsh electrical environments
  • An understanding of BLDC motor operation and drives
  • An understanding of power electronics and control system design
