Sustainable Aerospace & Marine Product Manufacturing

Written by Stirling Dynamics | 22 February 2023

As part of our ongoing commitment to research and development within the aerospace and marine industry, we have invested in an improved and more efficient 3D printing capability to help with our product design development for clients.

At present, we offer a variety of Aircraft Control Products that utilise our 3D printing capability from concept, through to design and development. We will be expanding its use across all areas of our business within Aerospace, Marine, Aviation and eVTOL for defence, civil and commercial customers.

By investing further in rapid prototyping, Stirling Dynamics can add more value to its clients, utilising innovative solutions, saving time, and reducing cost, whilst having the ability to de-risk design concepts as early as possible.

Current applications include:

  • Rotor hub pitch control mechanism. In the early conceptual design phase, we used prototyping to prove out the complex design concepts, enabling rapid evolution of a solution that was greatly de-risked compared with a more traditional approach.
  • An agile ‘on-demand’ piece-part production solution for elements of the Stirling Active Control product range.
  • Validation of design changes prior to committing to production by allowing the modified parts to be assembled with the existing design and in doing so prove aspects such as; manufacturability, assembly and maintainability.
