As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to CSR activities, Stirling Dynamics has been a Project Sponsor to a team of University of Bath students from the MSc Innovation & Technology Management and MSc Engineering Business Management programmes during their final term. Over the last three months, the students have been getting to grips with an industrial challenge, posed by Stirling. This “Practice Track” project is an alternative to a dissertation and involved the students working directly with Stirling, doing academic research and presenting their findings. Stirling’s Stuart Smith (Head of Programmes) and Simon Hancock (Research and Development Manager) have been liaising and mentoring the team, in addition to their Industrial Supervisor, Phil Swash, a former CEO of GKN Driveline.
Dan Clark, Stirling’s Business Unit Director, commented: “We were impressed with the presentation we received today. The students have gained some valuable practical experience and insights into working with a real-world tech company. From our side, it’s challenged our thinking and we were impressed with the ideas that were presented.”
Stirling endeavours to broaden the appeal of engineering, from primary school through to University. The company is committed to supporting the education and career prospects of the next generation of engineers.
