Stirling Dynamics is proud to announce that Evelyn Cropper, Technical Manager of Structural & Fluid Dynamics, has been selected by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) as one of their Top 50 Women in Engineering: Inventors and Innovators.
Founded by the Women’s Engineering Society in 2016, the WE50 awards are a UK event linked to the International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) which celebrates women in engineering and takes place on the 23rd of June each year.
In association with The Guardian newspaper, the 2022 Top 50 Women in Engineering Awards celebrate the Inventors and Innovators who can #ImagineTheFuture and celebrates the amazing women in engineering, who identify an unmet need, and then create the solution, or improve on existing products and processes to make our lives easier.
Evelyn was nominated as she is an exceptional engineer; she has worked in aerospace engineering for 44 years and currently holds the role of Technical Manager at Stirling Dynamics, leading our Structural and Fluid Dynamics capability. She completed an engineering undergraduate apprenticeship when she first left school (BAe Weybridge and an Aeronautical Engineering degree), went on to achieve a second degree (Mathematics), and is currently studying a further Master’s in mathematics in her spare time! Evelyn is also a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

Evelyn richly deserves this recognition from WES. I have had the pleasure of working with Evelyn for many years and not only is she an industry-recognised expert on aircraft loads and aeroelastics, which is fundamental for the safety of the aircraft, but throughout her career, she has trained many engineers and is always eager to share her knowledge with others. She is an asset to the company, not just technically but also in the development of new engineers for the future.
Evelyn will be attending the WE50 awards ceremony on the 14th of July being held in London. Congratulations Evelyn.
