State-of-the-art submarine autopilot and hover systems design and development

Specialising in the development of safety-critical software, encapsulating both state-of-the-art autopilot and hover solutions that are easy to integrate while delivering enhanced control and performance. Our expertise extends from the design of the control algorithms through to the implementation of the safety-critical software code, including any required at sea optimisation. Similarly, our technology benefits legacy platforms as well as existing state-of-the-art submarines and incorporates a future proof product that reduces manning and simplifies boat control.

A STRONG CAPABILITY WITHIN THE DOMAIN OF SUBMARINE AUTOPILOT AND HOVER SYSTEM DESIGN

From early concept to first of class and batch development; Stirling Dynamics has built a strong capability within the domain of submarine autopilot and hover system design. We have worked on platforms that include the Trafalgar Class (Slow Speed Control); Swiftsure Class (Slow Speed Control); U209 (autopilot); U212A (autopilot); U214 (autopilot); Dolphin AIP (autopilot) and Jangbogo III (autopilot and hover).

ENABLING AN EXTENDED OPERATIONAL ENVELOPE AND INCREASED SAFETY

Developing an automatic submarine platform control system to meet today’s operational requirements is a highly complex undertaking, with large and potentially expensive technical risks being carried through the development project until successful sea trials are conducted.

Stirling Dynamics’ advanced autopilots deliver optimised boat performance coupled with robust stability and safety margins. The experience we have gained from our military aerospace background has been applied to the submarine environment to increase performance, reliability, and safety. They are also designed to minimise operator workload and training requirements and have the ability to be tuned at sea during sea trials.
