International Women in Engineering Day, brought to you by Women’s Engineering Society (WES) will celebrate its 12th year in 2025. Once again, we'll be promoting the amazing work that women engineers across the globe are doing. This year’s theme is #TogetherWeEngineer. Taking this opportunity, to all the women engineers making a difference, we would like to say thank you for your perseverance and brilliance.
It’s no secret that engineering has traditionally been a male-dominated field, and the numbers tell a sobering story. Engineering UK’s 2023 report shows only 14% of engineers are female. Globally, the UNESCO 2021 Science Report found that fewer than 30% of STEM researchers worldwide are female, with engineering consistently showing the lowest representation across all scientific disciplines. But the good news is that women have made groundbreaking contributions to the engineering sector, despite historical challenges and systemic barriers.
At Stirling Dynamics, we believe that diversity and inclusion are key drivers of innovation and success. We are committed to creating an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, race, age, or sexual orientation, can thrive and reach their full potential. This means flexibility to juggle work life and home life more easily, enhanced parental leave, wellbeing support, and a supportive women’s network.
We were pleased to achieve Great Place to Work status for the second time this year, and we are always looking for how we can do better. We have an Employee Engagement Forum which allows us to continually gather ideas and feedback from employees, to ensure we are always listening and improving.
On International Women in Engineering Day, we take the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our women engineers. Their dedication, expertise, and passion for engineering are integral to our success. We are proud to have women leading projects, driving innovation, and mentoring the next generation of engineers.
We understand the importance of inspiring young women to consider careers in engineering. We attend STEM events and encourage our employees to use our company volunteering hours to attend various events through schools and universities, inspiring the next generation of engineers. We offer graduate schemes and are proud of our strong history of developing graduates' engineering careers.
To all the women engineers who are making a difference, we deeply appreciate your dedication and exceptional talent. Happy International Women in Engineering Day!
